Daily Prompt: Singin’ in the Rain

bullseye

This is a previous photo I had named Bullseye.

A perfect rainy afternoon. Well, those four words are perfect in and of themselves.

When it rains I prefer to have a window open so the raw smells fill my house. This allows the sounds of birds and raindrops, hopefully the odd thunder-clap, as well. The best rain is warm. It would be the shower that puts the world in a darkness apart from occasional light breaks.

Now that scene has been set…
Candles, pillows and sweet drinks; whether it be tea, chocolate milk or smoothies. Crunchy snacks.
Perfection would be cuddling with my daughter and husband reading or talking. After a few good books it would be wonderful to browse through photos.
I always seem to need a bit of organizing or project finishing being done when it rains. It feels much more rewarding while it rains. An unexplainable release of creative juices that I can’t allow going to waste.

After cooking together nearby the open window then eating a light satisfying meal, grilled chicken breast on a huge salad comes to mind, we would go out onto the covered front porch and just watch the rain with a glass of wine. Most likely my camera would be present.

After my daughter has gone to bed I would finish a perfect rainy day with my husband as we watch a movie on the couch; with candles, munchies and the windows open as the dog lies at our feet.

Tomorrow is meant to thunderstorm all day and I am going to do some baking and listen to music that I have been missing. Since it is Fathers Day, our meal will be steak and lobster tail. I wish I had bought some ice wine..

Daily Prompt: Goals

When you started your blog, did you set any goals?
In starting my blog I was new to the Social Media world. I did not have Facebook, twitter or Google accounts.
So, my first goal was to research and learn as much as I could about how to use it and how they all connect.
Another goal I set was to commit to writing a little bit towards posts 2 days per week to result in at least one post per week.
My final goal was to reach 50 followers. This was a number I would use to gauge when to sign up for my own domain and hosting so I could branch out into having ads and promoting people and products.

I want to take a moment to thank my followers for faithfully liking and commenting on my blog. It is so encouraging, humbling and heart warming to know that people want to know every time I post so they can see what I have to say. I am officially addicted to you and making my blog fabulously interesting.

Have you achieved them?
I have achieved all of these goals with the exception of owning my domain…

Have they changed at all?
I have ‘upped the anti’, so to speak. My new goals are as follows:

1} Start hosting with Bluehost and import all my content to new site. Hopefully I don’t mess it up, wish me luck… Anyone know if I have to backup my site and to where, or how to find them again!?

2} Apply some techniques to get more traffic with better tags, frequent conversation on my new twitter account and finding even more great blogs to chat with.

3} Treat my blog like a job in the sense that I will sit down for a predetermined timeframe every day to write, read, search and research. I would like to do 30 minutes, to start. This decision was made, in part, as an attempt to post more frequent, quality content.

4} By October I would like to enable ads and start promoting products/businesses/people.

Well, now it’s official. I have published my goals. It becomes much more crucial or perhaps concrete when you tell someone a plan.

Good luck with your goals!

Daily Prompt: Too big to fail

I am the type of person that can answer a question straight, but, I can also elaborate, have questions or have more than one answer. The divergent thinker in me never rests. Ask and you shall receive. My heart rests in many places.

Which leads me to the question of a prompt:
TOO BIG TO FAIL

I would like to buy a house, flip it, rent out my house and move my family to Europe (Spain) for a year. While there I would mentor photographers, work part time in galleries, cafes and anywhere that catches my eye, volunteer and go on weekend adventures around Europe with my family. While in England, I would search library archives in hopes of finding family records and spend quality time with family.
(Yes, I know it’s a mouthful. Hence why I wrote the first paragraph as a lead in)

I haven’t tried this because it is a huge risk and there are too many unknowns. Money, or lack there of. If it was just me it would be a different story. I’m not willing to involve my daughter and husband in such an unpredictable endeavour. It would also take a great deal of organized chaos. I claim to be pretty organized but, honestly, I don’t feel I would be on that grand of a scale.

I guess I’m a grown up now that I realize I can’t let myself ‘fly by the seat of my pants’.
